Congratulations. Following on from the excellent results you achieved in your studies of management and organizations Professor Dawson, whose expertise is in dairy farming and the use of robotic technology, has hired you to help her with a new project. This project aims to research the commercial and scientific viability of using milking robots, which milk the cows out in the paddock, in the New Zealand context. Professor Dawson, however, is aware that introducing change such as new technology to a business is not always straight-forward and that the change process needs careful management.
Professor Dawson has asked you to provide an overview of the key research literature on the management and organizational issues this kind of change process entails, taking into account the concerns that farm managers, farming consultants and the animal rights lobby will have, these being the key stakeholders that she will need to work with in advancing her research project.
