According to Iris Marion Young, security has been associated with ‘a logic of masculinist protection’, and ‘the subordinate relation of those in the protected position’ (quoted in Aradau, 2013, p. 92). Using the PASH elements of scale and power/agency, critically evaluate the evidence for such a characterisation of security, and the extent to which security is compatible with development.
