the Basic Human Needs (BHN) theory
As a paradigm shift in social research, the Basic Human Needs (BHN) theory has been a promising framework of both analysis and resolution/transformation in Conflict Resolution, Peace studies, and Development studies. Having read Burton, Galtung, and Rubenstein last week, what are the main assumptions of the theory? Why has it shifted the focus from the state to the human being as a unit of analysis?
